ABOUT WPEF

WHO?

HOW?

MISSION AND HISTORY

WPEF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the enhancement and advocacy of the public schools in Westchester, Playa del Rey and Playa Vista. Through the leadership efforts of the foundation in fund raising, researching, developing and marketing our public schools, long-term partnerships continue to be built with educators, families, local government and the business community to strengthen our schools from kindergarten through high school.

The Westchester/Playa Education Foundation (WPEF) was established by Parents Achieving Results Together (P.A.R.T.) in 2004 and conducted its first community meeting April 2005. WPEF can provide funds for all our schools where local PTA’s can’t and where government funding doesn’t.

Our main goal is to support and enhance an excellent education for all of our children in our local public schools. To do this, we feel we must have:

  • Great Teachers

  • Productive Classroom Time

  • Diverse Students

  • Choice Of Enrichment Activities

  • Safe And Stimulating Environment

  • Secure Path From K-12 In Our Neighborhood

How is all this getting done?

At this time, all efforts are voluntary, many of our members work outside of being parents, volunteer at our schools and support other causes.  Strength is in our numbers - numbers of involved parents, numbers of school administrators and teachers, numbers of neighborhood “stakeholders”, numbers of dollars, numbers found through research, numbers of organized professionals on our “team”, ultimately numbers of fulfilled, nurtured and educated students.
